When did 'Halls' Become my Personal Cheerleader?

The other day I popped a Halls Triple Soothing Action cough drop in my mouth and absentmindedly smoother out the wrapper into a rectangle. It was then that I noticed words on the wrapper.

We have all seen positive statements on wrappers before, like Dove Chocolate. I have never seen them on medicinal products, however. When I read the pep talk-like statements on the wrapper I did start to feel better. I told myself, "March forward!"

Very cleverly, Halls becomes our personal cheerleader with the idea "A pep talk in every drop." Many people need encouraging words if they are feeling bad enough to use cough drops. Does this make me like the company more? Yes. Does this make me more likely to buy Halls cough drops in the future? Yes.

I say the marketing team hit a home run.

What are some hidden advertising methods you have seen or even used?
